Cath Lab equipment appeal

Our Cath Labs work 7 days a week undertaking procedures such as Coronary Angiograms to find any blockages in the arteries that could cause a heart attack. Ablations to regulate irregular heartbeats, and TAVI procedures (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Impanation) where a new heart valve is inserted.

And we are doing more of these procedures each year.

• Additional lead aprons - $9,800

  These aprons protect staff from radiation during procedures and due to increased cases, we need 12 more, 4 in small, 4 in medium and 4 in large sizes.

• GE Ultrasound Unit - $74,500

  This equipment helps to clearly identify veins and arteries for needles and the insertion of sheaths when deploying stents and valves from the wrist or groin into the heart.

• ACIST CVi System $41,000

  This system delivers contrast into the patient’s bloodstream. Contrast is a type of dye used to enhance the visibility of blood vessels in the heart during imaging and in angiograms, CT scans and MRI. It helps the medical team see the blood flow through the heart and identify any blockages.
