Tread old pilgrimage routes past ancient shrines through dense forest with its many streams, rivers and waterfalls, evoking a deep connection between the environment, history, traditions and faith. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its unique religious and social importance and is visited for both ritualistic purposes and hiking. The accommodation for this journey is in selected minshuku inns which are perfectly suited to the surroundings. Our journey begins in the cultural centre of Kyoto and ends in Osaka. You will taste traditional Japanese delicacies prepared by local chefs, wander the gentle cobbled stairways past ancient shrines and statues and soak in centuries old thermal springs.
